To briefly review the previous blog, the myriad of alleged red flags existing in Yolanda’s opening of these bank accounts and cashing forged checks, she was never stopped nor charged for any kind of bank fraud by the authorities. Now again, why is that if the embezzlement happened like Abraham Quintanilla has touted for nearly three decades? On another note, it should also be mentioned that back in the day, the banks would typically mail a person back the check they cashed once it clears, for the account holder’s own records. In this case, the checks made it back to Yolanda since the account name was labeled Selena Y Los Dinos Fan Club, essentially getting mailed to where the fan club was located, presumably. That’s where Abraham claimed to have stumbled on some of those checks in early 1995.
As this was all supposedly happening, Abraham surprisingly had his guard down, welcoming Yolanda with open arms. How is that not suspicious? He barely knew this woman and gave her the same freedom as a free-range chicken. Then he repudiated himself from the fan club affairs and left Yolanda to handle everything, with Suzette being the intermediary for Abraham and Yolanda. Abraham has claimed time and time again in old interviews that he never trusted Yolanda, but then walks that back and says he once thought of her like a member of his family. How does that make any sense? I wish I were making this up. He permitted her to make the executive decisions where the fan club was concerned, so that means he trusted her to handle these matters unimpeded.
Based on everything that was allegedly happening, there’s just no way Abraham didn’t know what was occurring at the fan club unless he purposely turned a blind eye and chose to look the other way. The Selena Y Los Dinos Fan Club was set up for charity purposes, so you would think, even back in the early 90s, that there must have been a tax form for non profit organizations, that Abraham was required to have his Certified Public Accountant or CPA, take care of. They would’ve likely conducted an audit to confirm if there was money being embezzled, much less tens of thousands of dollars like Abraham claims went missing. In the late 90s, form 990 was a filing requirement for those running Non-Profit Organizations or NPOs, but you would think even before that, Abraham and his CPA would’ve wanted to make sure the proceeds of the fan club went to charity instead of just gullibly trusting Yolanda to handle everything. He was the manager of the band, which included heading up all public relations. He never wanted a stain on Selena’s name, so why would he risk all of that by trusting a stranger who, yes, was another fellow Hispanic, with a responsibility like this, without first getting to know her a little bit more?
Who was responsible for operating costs like memorabilia production, rent for the building where the fan club was located, utilities, etc? It’s like money for this fan club, which was also a business, just happened to appear out of thin air to stay buoyant. It remains unclear where a majority of the money came from. Of course, the fan membership fees registered as income, but those proceeds were supposed to be allocated solely for charity purposes. It’s like the Quintanilla family and the media just tell us Yolanda did this and that, like it’s a movie plot, and even though there are so many plot holes, we’re supposed to accept it, and that’s it. You can’t skip details in life or in time. Every second matters. Who was paying this male treasurer that Abraham mentioned in a 2014 interview with Robert Rivas, who was working alongside Yolanda? We still never got his name, and he should’ve been aware of what Yolanda was allegedly doing, yet we’re supposed to believe she was embezzling and getting away with this crime for nearly 4 years? As previously mentioned, Yolanda’s niece confirmed that she was the treasurer of the fan club, and she affirms that Yolanda did not embezzle any funds from there. Let that all sink in and decide who you would rather believe is telling the truth.
