DMX, whose real name was Earl Simmons, was an American rapper and actor known for his gruff delivery and raw, aggressive style. Born on December 18th, 1970, in Mount Vernon, New York, DMX became one of the leading figures in the rap and hip-hop scenes during the late 1990s and early 2000s. DMX's debut 1998 album, "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot", was a critical and commercial success, featuring hits like "Ruff Ryders' Anthem." DMX became a prominent figure in the rap community due to his intense stage presence and gritty lyrics.  His career was marked by both commercial success and personal struggles, including legal issues and battles with substance abuse. Beyond his music career, DMX also ventured into acting in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. DMX passed away on April 9th, 2021, at the age of 50, after suffering a heart attack that was reportedly triggered by a drug overdose.
