Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was a celebrated American Tejano music artist, often referred to as the "Queen of Tejano.” She was born on April 16th, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas, to Abraham and Marcella Quintanilla, and showed an early aptitude for singing and performing. Selena rose to fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s, becoming one of the most influential figures in Latin music. In addition to her music career, Selena was known for her charismatic stage presence and her ability to connect with audiences. She won numerous awards for her work, including a Grammy Award in 1994. Selena's life was cut short on March 31st, 1995, when she was reportedly murdered by Yolanda Saldívar, the president of her fan club and boutique manager. Selena's death stunned her devoted fans and the music industry, but her influence continued to grow posthumously. A biopic film titled "Selena," starring Jennifer Lopez was released in 1997 and contributed to further extrapolate her legacy.
