Whitney Houston was an American singer, actress, producer, and model who became one of the most successful and acclaimed entertainers of her generation. She was born on August 9th, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey, to John Russell Houston and gospel singer Cissy Houston. Houston's powerful and soulful voice quickly made her an icon in the music industry. She achieved tremendous success with her music hits and even pursued a successful acting career. Despite her immense talent and success, Houston faced personal challenges, including struggles with substance abuse. She tragically passed away on February 11th, 2012, at the age of 48, in Beverly Hills, California. Her death was ruled as an accidental drowning, with heart disease and drug use listed as contributing factors.
